Fat still but...

I don't want to look at a scale. At least not one with me on it. But I am working toward some improvement.

One of the problems I have been facing is the pain of exercise. There are few things I can do that do not involve pain. However, over the past several months I have been following (somewhat closely) an arthritis program, and I am finally starting to feel a difference. Today I decided to get back on a stationary bike and see if the pain in my knees would be too much.

The pain in my left knee did arrive, soon after I started pedaling. I started at level 4 and worked my way to level 8 (out of 20 levels), which is higher than I've gone before. I used the "random hill" option and was able to keep a good pace, over 60 rpm throughout. I remember having quite a bit of trouble keeping it going before, mostly because the more I pushed the more it hurt.

After 30 minutes I got off. I did not limp. I believe this is a change, too (I could probably verify it by looking into my arthritis journal).

So it was a plus and minus kind of thing. Overall I'm hopeful. I'm going to take my bike to the shop and see how I do when I get it back, see how I do on a real ride.
